This past few weeks we have been learning about fractions. We started out with adding and subtracting fractions. We have learned about finding the LCD (Least Common Denominator ) and GCF (Greatest Common Factor). We have also learned about simplifying fractions. The students have struggled a little bit with this but seem to be getting it now. Please let me know if you have any concerns about how your student is catching on and being able to add and subtract fractions. We are now moving on to adding and subtracting mixed numbers and being able to change a fraction to a mixed number.
This unit has been pretty basic facts with not too much of the different ways to solve the problems. So far we haven't had to do much with drawing the model or doing the expanded form.
