January News!
January has been a busy month.
We have been working hard and attempting to become better writers. We have been writing on Utah Compose and trying to improve our topic sentences and to use adjectives to write great sentences to support our topic sentences.
January has been the month for testing! We have been taking the Sage Interim Test and also doing the DRA testing. The students have been awesome about so much time spent testing and even missing recesses. We are almost done with testing and are looking forward to being able to have more time to spend on our regular studies.

Food Drive
We voted as a class to have a class food drive. Ginette Bott from the Utah Food Bank came and talked to us about why we needed to help provide food for those less fortunate than us. She helped us understand where the food goes and how it helps those families. She told us what kinds of foods and items to collect that would be most helpful. We made posters to put up around the school and we also went to each classroom to encourage them to participate in our food drive. Our food drive was two weeks long and we collected a lot of food.
We collected 456 pounds of food. That is more than enough food to provide 347 meals to those in need. What a great accomplishment for our class to undertake. We loved doing this! |
